On Day 1 (28 June 2019), YAU Hoi Yan, Yvonne (Lingnan University, Hong Kong, China) moderated the session of “Politics of Ecology, Energy, and Community - Case Study 1: Fukushima”. Hiroko AIHARA (Japan Perspective News, Japan) gave her presentation on “Eight Years On: Damage, Discrimination, and Resistance in Fukushima”. Emiko FUJIOKA (Fukushima Beacon for Global Citizens Network, Japan) gave her presentation on “Threat to Ecology, Livelihood and Community Regeneration in Fukushima”.

After presentations, there were discussions. HE Zhixiong (Liang Shuming Rural Reconstruction Center, China) was the discussant. Eight participants joined the discussions as well: Francine MESTRUM (Global Social Justice, Belgium), Ariel SALLEH (University of Sydney, Australia), CHAN Shun Hing (Partnership for Eco-Agriculture and Conservation of Earth, Hong Kong, China), WANG Ping (China Reform of Economic System Press, China), CHAN Yue Fai Edward (Partnerships for Community Development, Hong Kong, China), CHEN Zhiyuan (university student, China), SHU Shih-Wei (Green Sprouts, Taiwan, China), and ZHOU Huan (Xinjiang Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development Research Center, China). Hiroko AIHARA and Emiko FUJIOKA responded.
