The presentation provides an overview of the youth situation in Asia and the challenges for youth development, particularly with regard to changing development needs of young people as they relate to their education in preparation for their future life, and their meaningful participation in decision-making processes in society and communities. The presentation also discusses young people's participation in public services both as part of their contribution to society and as part of their learning for the future. In analysing the linkages between these areas, the presentation will discuss emerging concerns and lessons learned from the practices and policies of different countries in promoting youth development and participation.
