Abstract
吳宓是著名的學者,"學衡派"的重要代表。文章結合特定的歷史時代背景,對吳宓的翻譯思想進行梳理,探討他對翻譯定義、翻譯目的、翻譯與摹仿的關系、翻譯功用、翻譯選材、翻譯標準、翻譯方法等諸多問題的看法。從中可以看出,"以新材料入舊格律"是吳宓翻譯思想的核心,他的翻譯思想與他對待文化與文字的立場一脈相承。
Wu Mi is an important scholar and the representative of the so-called Xueheng School. Taking into consideration of the historical background, this article investigates Wu Mi’s ideas on the definition and purpose of translation, the relationship between translation and imitation, function of translation, selection of materials for translation, criteria of translation, method of translation, etc. The study demonstrates that "to put new materials in old forms" is a true reflection of Wu’s thinking on translation, which is consistent with Wu’s stance on culture and language.
