這次講座聚焦2023年底於克利夫蘭藝術博物館舉辦之「人間天堂——中國江南珍寶展」中的一幅十八世紀中國版畫,全面概述其修復情況。該案例涵蓋了歷史背景與技法、修復處理過程與珍稀版畫帶來的挑戰及其解決方案。透過講座,觀眾可獲中國傳統裝潢的基本知識,以及如何結合西方觀點與方法來進行該版畫修復工作。
This lecture provides a comprehensive overview of restoring an eighteenth century Chinese print featured in the “China's Southern Paradise: Treasures from the Lower Yangzi Delta” exhibition at the Cleveland Museum of Art in late 2023. This case study covers historical research, treatment process, challenges posed by the rare print, and their solutions. Through this talk, the participants can understand the basics of traditional Chinese mounting and how the Chinese print was treated with a Western conservation approach.
講者介紹 Speaker's Biography
曾秉中自2022年起擔任李氏夫婦中國書畫修復研究員。曾氏持有國立臺南藝術大學古物維護研究所碩士及格拉斯哥大學/倫敦佳士得美術學院中國藝術與藝術界實踐研究生文憑,並積極參與世界各地的許多修復項目,在著名的亞洲繪畫修復工作室磨練其技巧與知識,包括大都會藝術博物館、波士頓美術館和台北國立故宮博物院。作為李氏夫婦中國書畫修復研究員,曾氏的貢獻延伸到兩個著名展覽的重要修復項目:「放大鏡下的中國:經典的微型與細節」以及最近的「人間天堂——中國江南珍寶展」。曾氏致力修復中國書畫,且熱衷於保存這些無價的藝術品。
Ping-Chung Tseng is a Chinese Painting Conservation Fellow at the June and Simon K. C. Li Center for Chinese Paintings Conservation since 2022. He holds an MA in East Asian Paintings Conservation from the Tainan National University of the Arts and a postgraduate diploma in Arts of China and Art World Practice from the University of Glasgow / Christie's Education, London.
Tseng has actively engaged in numerous conservation projects worldwide, honing his skills and knowledge at prestigious Asian painting conservation studios, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and the National Palace Museum in Taipei.
As the Li Center Fellow, his contributions have extended to significant conservation projects for two remarkable exhibitions: ‘China through the Magnifying Glass: Masterpieces in Miniature and Detail’ and, most recently, ‘China's Southern Paradise: Treasures from the Lower Yangzi Delta.’ Tseng is deeply committed to conserving Chinese paintings and is intensely passionate about preserving these invaluable artworks.
