2017 年,是嶺南大學推行服務研習的第十一個年頭。今期【嶺召】為大家帶來六個故事,透過八位學生及畢業生在服務研習經歷中的點滴和感想,我們盼望能與您一起見證服務研習為他們帶來的成長歷程。我們亦想將這份盼望延續,願服務研習能伴您同行,編寫出另一個屬於您的成長故事!
The Office of Service-Learning at Lingnan University works closely with academic departments and community partners in order to provide a platform for students to apply and utilize their professional knowledge in response to various social issues. Service-Learning enhances personal development and facilitates harmony and improvement in society. It fosters positive energy in students and the community, while acting as the driving force of our mission!
2017 is the eleventh year since the launch of Service-Learning at Lingnan. In this issue of “SLANT,” we’ve included six stories about eight students’ and graduates’ Service-Learning experiences. We’d like for you to witness the growth they experience during their Service-Learning journeys through their stories. We also hope that these stories inspire you to have your own Service- Learning experiences!

Starting from this academic year, Service-Learning is a graduation requirement for undergraduate students of Lingnan University. This issue of “Slant” shares the stories of Service-Learning courses and projects from three academic departments and an oversea tour so as to demonstrate the positive impact of Service-Learning on course instructors, students and the community.

全球思考,在地行動
今期【嶺召】將會透過多個服務研習故事,說明「全球思考,在地行動」對回應外傭、女性權益、可持續發展等議題的重要性。無論您是本地生,還是剛到香港的交換生,但願這些故事都能啟發您以不同的在地行動,回應所關注的世界性議題。
In this issue of “SLant”, we will further examine the concept of “Think Global, Act Local”, while various Service-Learning stories will demonstrate how this concept addresses different global issues, including domestic workers, women’s rights and sustainable development, locally. We hope that by reading these stories, whether you are a local student or an exchange student, you will be inspired to address global issues locally.

老吾老,以及人之老
今期通訊將會深入探討人口老化與青年人的關係。我們會從剖析香港銀髮市場的現況開始,然後透過多個與長者有關的服務研習故事,分享嶺大同學運用不同的學科知識,與老師和社區機構一起回應長者需要的經驗。無論是協助長者建立社交網絡,還是為他們撰寫短篇小說,都不難看到嶺大同學服務社會的熱情。我們希望這些故事能為您帶來一點啟發,更期待日後看到屬於您的服務研習故事。
Regard all elderly people as your own parents
In this issue of “SLant”, we will further talk about the relationship between ageing population and young people. The concept of silver market and its current development in Hong Kong will be introduced, while various Service-Learning stories, including but not limited to creating social network and recording life stories for the seniors, will be shared to demonstrate Lingnan students’ passions for serving the community. More importantly, with the support from faculty members and agency partners, Lingnan students applied their academic knowledge in addressing the needs of seniors, and created positive impact in the community. We hope that by reading their stories, you will be inspired to support to those in need through participating in Service-Learning projects. Look forward to seeing your Service-Learning story!
