"Walking with Lingnanians" Fundraising Walkathon 2013 was held on 20 October 2013 with the participation of over 850 students, alumni, teachers, staff and friends of the University. Over $1.8 million was raised in support of the University’s whole-person development programmes. The walkathon started from Tai Wan Shan Park, Hung Hom and proceeded to the Avenue of Stars, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Officiating guests of the kick-off ceremony included Mrs Cherry Tse, JP, Permanent Secretary for Education, Government of HKSAR; The Hon Bernard Charnwut Chan, Chairman of the University Council; Mr Rex Auyeung Pak-kuen, Deputy Chairman of the University Council; Prof Albert Ip Yuk-keung, Chairman of the University Institutional Advancement Committee and President Leonard K Cheng.

嶺南大學於2013年10月20日舉行「嶺步同行籌款日2013」，逾千名學生、校友、教職員及各界友好參與，共籌得超過180萬元善款，為學生全人發展項目提供經費。2011年度的嶺步同行籌款日以荃灣公園為起點，沿青山公路步行至深井。

開步典禮的主禮嘉賓包括：教育局常任秘書長謝凌潔貞太平紳士、嶺大校董會主席陳智思議員太平紳士、校董會副主席歐陽伯權先生、大學發展委員會主席葉毓強教授及鄭國漢校長。
