"Walking with Lingnanians" Fundraising Walkathon 2011 was held on 16 October 2011 with the participation of over 1,000 students, alumni, teachers, staff and friends of the University. Around $1.7 million was raised in support of the University’s whole-person development programmes. The walkathon took the route from Tsuen Wan Park to Sham Tseng along Castle Peak Road.

Officiating guests of the kick-off ceremony included Mrs Cherry Tse, JP, Permanent Secretary for Education; Mr Bernard Chan, GBS, JP, Chairman of the University Council; Ms Sophia Kao Ching-chi, SBS, JP, Deputy Chairman of the University Council; Mr Ben Wong Chung-mat, MH, JP, Treasurer of the University Council; Mr Patrick Ma Ching-hang, JP, Chairman of the University Institutional Advancement Committee and President Chan Yuk-Shee.

嶺南大學於2011年10月16日舉行「嶺步同行籌款日2011」，逾千名學生、校友、教職員及各界友好參與，共籌得約170萬元善款，為學生全人發展項目提供經費。2011年度的嶺步同行籌款日以荃灣公園為起點，沿青山公路步行至深井。

開步典禮的主禮嘉賓包括：教育局常任秘書長謝凌潔貞女士、嶺大校董會主席陳智思太平紳士、副主席高靜芝太平紳士、司庫王忠秣太平紳士、大學發展委員會主席馬清鏗太平紳士以及陳玉樹校長。
