嶺南學院三十周年校慶特輯

香港嶺南學院於1967年創立，秉承昔日廣州嶺南大學的優良傳統，對香港的專上教育貢獻良多。1998年是嶺南學院三十周年校慶活動升向高潮的一年，也是廣州嶺南大學創校一百一十周年。在過去的三十年，嶺南學院由只有數間課室的小型私辦學院，發展到擁有新穎及特別設計的校舍及頒授大學的高等學府。
欣逢三十周年校慶，學院在《信報》印發特輯。此特輯記載了時任香港政府官員的賀辭，內容還包括嶺南學院的教學發展、博雅教育、學生的寄宿生活等。

嶺南是所有本地特色的人文大學

1996年12月，時任嶺南學院校長陳坤耀教授於香港電台節目《時事沙龍》之「八大校長室」接受訪問。他當時闡述，嶺南定位為具香港特色的博雅教育學院 (Liberal Arts College)，強調小規模辦學模式，其核心教育理念在於培養學生的思考與適應能力，使所學知識能適應社會快速變遷。
學院當時以本科生教育為主，在維持文科學術特色的同時，亦發展商科等實用學科。校方重視寄宿教育傳統，認為全宿制有助培養學生獨立人格與群體生活能力。在學術研究方面，基於規模限制，學院集中發展兩大領域：老年人社會政策研究，以回應香港人口老化趨勢；以及翻譯學研究，著重理論與實踐。

嶺南學院的新里程

隨着香港多所專上院校於九十年代陸續升格為大學，當時的嶺南學院確立了以「人文學科專門大學」為發展方向。與其他院校不同，嶺南選擇以文科教育為核心，同時結合職業導向課程，開創了「具香港特色」的人文教育模式。
當時學院設有文學院、商學院及社會科學院三個學院，並計劃擴充社會科學院的學系規模。屯門的新校舍定於1995年7月啟用，為學校發展提供更充裕的教學空間。
嶺南當時開始推行「全生皆宿」計劃，分階段讓所有學生體驗群體生活，這項政策至今仍是嶺南的辦學特色。此外，學院維持小班教學模式，確保教學質素，並透過三所研究中心和加強招生宣傳，持續提升學術影響力及國際化程度。

嶺南書院在香港成立的新聞報導 : 天天日報(1967年11月19日)
由嶺南中學、嶺南大學同學會及嶺南會所與及全球嶺南校友支持下，嶺南書院於1967年11月19日正式成立，當日下午3時30分於司徒拔道15號的校舍舉行成立大典。
同日出版的天天日報，在第8版以約三分之一的版面報導有關嶺南書院的成立、組織及師資及校徽的意義等資料，另附文章介紹原廣州嶺南大學的歷史背景。
