The Department of Visual Studies launched the Visual Studies Artists-in-Residence Programme in 2006, with the generous support offered by the Lingnan Foundation at Yale University. The Programme reflects the Department's commitment, among other things, to "research expression", understood as the rigorous exploration of concepts and ideas through art practice.
Designed to sharpen students' understanding of artistic practice and their results through studio course and interaction with artists, the Artist-in-Residence programme brings one local, one non-local, one established, and one emerging artist to the Lingnan campus every year. These artists are in residence for a full semester, and during this time they teach one limited enrollment Studio Practice course in their particular areas of expertise, and pursue their own artistic projects, typically mounting an exhibition showing work produced at Lingnan at the end of their residency.
More information about the Programme can be found in Department's website.
This book gallery showcases the exhibition catalogues which the Department is committed to producing for each exhibition.
