Description
While some have argued that translators of prose fiction literacy works should be as literal as possible, most think that a translator has the right to take liberties to get the story to work in translation. What limitations are there on a translator, according to scholars, translators, editors and authors? Can a translator reorder? Cut? Rename? Reimagine? Prof Darryl Sterk, Assistant Professor of Department of Translation shares his views as well as practical examples from his own translation in his mini-lecture entitled “Between Translating and Creative Writing” in the “LingU Online Mini-Lecture Series”.
