Description

The Courtauld Gallery in London has been committed to live music as a means of contextualizing the collection since 2008, offering performance and research opportunities for postgraduate students and recent graduates together with opportunities for public participation. This seminar looks at recent research on the concept of staging music in museum spaces. Key highlights from The Courtauld’s programme include the re-discovery of a madrigal by composer Arcadelt commissioned by Michelangelo, to new compositions written in response to works in the collection.
