Abstract
The chapter is structured as follow. We first review the background of Chinese SOE reform and the challenges for developing learning organizations in this socio-political context. We then introduce our case company, followed by the research methodology. Following this, in the findings section, we discuss the changes that have been bought about in the overall learning climate as collectively interpreted by the employees and corresponding changes in their behavior. In the conclusion, we highlight the influence of the particular cultural and institutional context in China and the implications for practice.
