Abstract
The focus of this book is to examine the growing impact of globalization on education policy and development in the Asia Pacific region. It analyses the reaction of selected societies and the strategies that their governments have adopted in response to the tidal wave of marketization, corporization, commercialization and privatization. Particular attention is paid to educational restructuring in the context of globalization. More specifically, this book discusses the way in which globalization processes have caused structural adjustments, influencing eduation policies and directly affecting academics and those in the teaching profession. The authors compare and contrast similarities and differences in educational developments through case studies of Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Mainland China, The Philippines, Cambodia, Australia and New Zealand.
