"Walking with Lingnanians" Fundraising Walkathon 2012 was held on 14 October 2012 with the participation of over 800 students, alumni, teachers, staff and friends of the University. Around $1.3 million was raised in support of the University’s whole-person development programmes. The walkathon took the route from Tsuen Wan Park to Sham Tseng along Castle Peak Road.

Officiating guests of the kick-off ceremony included Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, SBS, JP, Secretary for Education, Government of HKSAR; The Hon Bernard Charnwut Chan, GBS, JP, Chairman of the University Council; Mr Ben Wong Chung-mat, MH, JP, Treasurer of the University Council; Mr Patrick Ma Ching-hang, JP, Chairman of the University Institutional Advancement Committee and President Chan Yuk-Shee.

嶺南大學於2012年10月14日舉行「嶺步同行籌款日2012」，逾800名學生、校友、教職員及各界友好參與，共籌得約130萬元善款，為學生全人發展項目提供經費。2012年度的嶺步同行籌款日以沙田大會堂廣場為起點，沿城門河畔繞行一圈。

開步典禮的主禮嘉賓包括：教育局局長吳克儉太平紳士、嶺大校董會主席陳智思議員太平紳士、司庫王忠秣太平紳士、大學發展委員會主席馬清鏗太平紳士以及陳玉樹校長。
