影片記錄一位曾經在文革時期到山西省汾西縣的一個山區插隊的北京知識女青年，30 年後放棄舒適的工作和家庭生活，再從北京回到這座大山去，參與扶貧及發展的工作。程煒現年已 60 歲，但精力充沛，一條等待很久的通往大山的路的落成，大大地促進了她的工作。
