Biography

A graduate of The University of Hong Kong with double major in economics and history, Prof Ma had worked in the banking and financial sector for nearly 30 years with substantial contributions to public finance, financial services and economic development of Hong Kong. He had served as the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, and the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the HKSAR Government. Prof Ma was appointed Honorary Professor of the School of Economics and Finance at the University of Hong Kong in October 2008, a Professor of Finance Practice of the Institute of Advanced Executive Education at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in July 2012, and an Honorary Professor of Business Administration at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in August 2013. Prof Ma was conferred the degree of Doctor of Social Sciences honoris causa.
