Lingnan University conferred honorary doctorates upon four distinguished individuals, namely Dr Gaston Kaboré; The Hon Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, GBS, JP; Ms Ng Wing-mui; and Mr Peter Wong Pak-heung, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to education and the well-being of the community.

Before the degree conferment, Prof Leonard K Cheng was installed as President of the University. In his address to the Congregation, President Cheng said he had learnt the value of attentive listening and genuine dialogue in the first three months of his presidency. He also shared his belief that university is a place for personal discovery and transformation, for discovering and defining our dream.
