Abstract
This study will begin with a quick overview of Hong Kong's ethnic minorities and the languages they use to communicate in many facets of their life. Then it will expand on previous studies on the usage of a person's native language and English, as well as the relevance of both two questions of identity. Finally, this study will present key findings, followed by a discussion of how ethnic minorities in Hong Kong utilize their mother tongue and English, and how this influences their identities. The findings and discussion are based on information gathered through semi-structured interviews with six ethnic minority students from Hong Kong.
