This study focuses on understanding the beliefs of local EMs, particularly regarding their English language ability. This study aims to investigate what roles English language ability plays in local EMs’ career success and university education. To address the diversity of EMs, the study also aims to investigate EMs’ perceptions of specific groups in terms of their English language ability. Lastly, the study relates local EMs’ suggestions for improving language education and the overall education system in Hong Kong.
