Through the efforts of alumni, Lingnan College was re-established in 1967 to continue the fine traditions of the University. In 1978, the college was registered under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance.
The College has progressed since 1991 from being a post secondary college to one of the degree-conferring tertiary institutions funded by the University Grant Committee of Hong Kong.

嶺南大學校友一直以復校為奮鬥的共同目標，終在1967年於香港復辦嶺南書院。1978年，嶺南書院成功向教育署註冊為專上學院，並隨即易名嶺南學院，同時推行由政府資助的專上學制。 至1991年，嶺南獲准升格納入「大學及理工資助委員會」體系，成為本港頒授學位的大專院校之一。
