In 1888, The American Presbyterian Board of Foreign Missions Founded Christian College in Canton, the Forerunner of Lingnan University.

1888年，美國長老會 (American Presbyterian Church) 在廣州沙基金利埠創辦了一所名為格致書院（Christian College in China）的高等學府。這所學府就是今天在香港復校的嶺南大學的前身。
