1950年代的香港建築設計，有其獨特的時代背景。這個年代正是一個承先啟後的年代。二次世界大戰使40年代前期的發展停頓下來，戰後的40年代後期是整頓期。50年代是重新開展期，建築設計將30年代流行的裝飾藝術風格及開始發展的現代主義風格，過渡到60年代的國際風格。本講座會以香港不同類型的建築為例，解說50年代生活與建築風格的轉變。 Hong Kong architecture styles of the 1950s have their own ephocal background. 1950s is an epoch of succession and transformation. The World War II brought a pause to the development of architecture in the early 1940s, and the end of the samde decade was a epriod of negotiation of styles. In the 1950s, architecture revived in Hong Kong. It succeeded Art Deco and Modernism of the 1930s, and transformed into International Style of the 1960s. This seminar shows examples of different architecture styles in Hong Kong, and introduces their transformation in the 1950s.
