Abstract
The article presents a study that provides theoretical perspective and empirical evidence on the effect of supervisor support on innovative behavior. The authors suggest future research to extend their work by integrating intrinsic motivation perspective and social exchange theory for a more comprehensive delineation of the dynamics involved. The study involves psychological mechanism of intrinsic motivation perspective which has long been used to account situational factors like supervisor influence on innovative and creative performance. The hypotheses were tested using employees from a large Chinese telecommunication company and immediate supervisors from a large logistics corporation.
