Abstract
Populations are growing older in countries throughout the world. While population aging can be celebrated as a human success story, rapid and widespread aging is part of a demographic transformation that will affect the health and development of all nations. Here, Kinsella and Phillips look at the health, labor force participation, family status, and other characteristics of older people, as well as recent demographic trends and the projected growth of the older population in major world regions.
