Volume 1 (2008) 2008 Academic Year, Fall Semester Issue

Comments and Greetings from the Editor...

As the first editor of the Lingnan Journal of Banking, Finance and Economics, let me welcome you to the very first issue, featuring papers from the Fall 2008 student intake of Lingnan University's Master of Science in International Banking and Finance (MIBF) Program. The Journal is a project conceived by leadership in Lingnan University's Department of Economics. Its purpose is to serve as a medium of academic expression for students who are enrolled in the MIBF Program.

The MIBF Program is a non-thesis master's program that features a one-year study in courses focusing on banking and macroeconomics. The papers featured in this publication are not thesis papers. They are, indeed, normal papers assembled by students during the fulfillment of compulsory course requirements in a non-thesis program. It is also worthy of noticing that each student whose work is featured in this first issue writes in English as a second language.

The order in which the papers appear in this issue is semi-random, with some emphasis on how the subject material was emphasized during the fall semester’s course proceedings.

Please enjoy this first issue of the Journal and share any comments that you might have via the Journal's email address: ljibf@ln.edu.hk.
