Abstract

This article explores the manner in which two important contemporary art installations, one solo and the other collaborative, represent Macao. It is expected to have a significant impact since it is part of a landmark 2-volume publication devoted to substantial new research on a wide range of Macao-related themes and issues. In terms of my research trajectory, this article should be seen in terms of my primary research into contemporary artistic collaboration. As well, however, it is part of my commitment to knowledge transfer on Macao and Hong Kong arts, as has been demonstrated over the past 7 years by the publication of articles such as “Macao: An art historical discipline waiting to happen?” (published in a 2006 Routledge volume entitled Is Art History Global? and edited by James Elkins) and my regular contributions to publications such as Macau Closer and Art Monthly Australia.
