Abstract

Computer technology has made a substantial contribution in teaching and learning to higher education during the past two decades (1983-2003). Until recently, Internet technology promises to become even more pervasive in this arena, there is a paradigm shift from classroom based teaching to computer based teaching, such as computer aided learning using Web based learning approach and its corresponding variants. Today more and more learning takes place outside of the classroom, however, most of the time spent as a learner is probably still in a "traditional" classroom. This research work has built a Web learning site on a database design topic and using a quantitative approach by Web mining techniques to discover the effectiveness of Web-based learning from a user's perspective. We have analysed our Web data collected to present our knowledge discovered in this paper. The insight knowledge could be utilized to refine the Web based learning content and design style for better effectiveness.
