Abstract

Image is the soul of poems. “Summer” is an important image in Shakespeare’s son-nets. An English reader’s reaction to “summer” is not the same with that to a Chinese reader. As the same image in a different cultural con text may be different in meaning, it is crucial for a translator to handle it carefully.
