This special issue combines contributions to a series of collaborative workshops and conference symposia of the UK Social Policy Association, the UK Development Studies Association and the Indian Social Policy Initiative held at the University of Bath (26-27 April 2013), the University of Birmingham (16 November 2013), O.P.
