Collins COBUILD English guides 10 : determiners and quantifiers
This title looks at both determiners (words such as "some", "each" and "this") and quantifiers (words such as "plenty" and "a lot"). Special attention is given to words which learners of English often confuse.
The first chapter provides an overview of the functions of determiners and quantifiers in today's English, and explains the distinction between them. This is followed by chapters on groups of words with similar meanings. The syntactic patterns and possible combinations of determiners are described in full, as are the differences in usage between the words in each group. The text is supported throughout by examples from the Bank of English.
