Abstract
Journal of Asian Public Policy Editorial The Journal of Asian Public Policy is a new addition to Routledge’s international journals related to Asian studies. It focuses on one of the most vibrant regions in the contemporary world. Both China and India are now recognized to be critical players in the global economy, with economic profiles that grow on an annual basis. Other countries in the region have also recorded significant economic growth since the 1997 East Asian financial crisis. China’s rapid economic growth has made it the third or fourth largest economic system in the global market place. Its economic prosperity has created fresh trade and business opportunities for its neighbours. Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Singapore and other Southeast Asian countries have benefited from the economic reforms taking place in China, and many dynamic new sectors have emerged. The rise of Asia in the past decade has drawn academics, researchers and policy analysts to review and critically analyze whether the East Asian miracle really ended with the economic turmoil of the late 1990s.
